For a few months, Kpop users on TikTok have been noticing a certain Kpop song being used widely on the platform, and it sounded familiar to many of them.
The song is Nalina by no other than Block B, aka the dark horses of Kpop. The 9-year-old hit song is going viral once again due to many TikTok trends like the SpitInMyMouth trend, the How Hard Did Puberty Hit You Trend, Anime edits, and so many other trends.
Yet many of the people who are using these challenges don’t even know the track they’re using is Block B’s 2012 hit song, Nalina, to which many TikTokers made it their mission to inform people on this song.
Today, Nalina was used on more than 787k videos on TikTok; it also gets around 1000 new Shazams a day, gathering a total of around 200K Shazams of people who are too curious to know who made this viral song. All This momentum has helped raise Block B to #5 on Gaon's social chart despite having no full group activity since 2018.
Nalina was Block B’s first hit song and Zico’s first song that he produced for Block B, the song was an instant hit for Block B, and it was known for the Gorrila Dance, the song peaked at #3 on Billboard world digital songs for 3 weeks, and #15 on Billboard Korea Hot 100, and peaked at #11 in Gaon digital chart in 2012.
But the Block B viral game doesn’t just end here; as of last week, Nilili Mambo (also a 9-year-old song) was getting popular again after a clip of TXT member Soobin singing and dancing enthusiastically to it on his Vlive went viral and garnered more than 2 million views!
This is nothing new to Nilili Mambo, as the song kept on going popular again every once in a while through anime fans (especially Mambo stuck) and other Kpop edits throughout the years.
I'm very happy about this
