BTS's Jungkook is known for his insane marketing power. Almost everything he uses, wears, drinks, and so on will be gone from the shelves once fans find out and start shopping. He is dubbed as the “Sold Out King” by the media, given the countless times he caused things to sell out just by a mere mention that he used them.
Jungkook’s impact goes beyond selling out items, he causes business growth too. For instance, Korea’s P&G supplier, KCI’s share price increased by 11% overnight after Jungkook made 2 months-worth of Downy stock sold out nationwide in just a day just because he mentioned he used it; TEAZEN and Zijangsa grew from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to highly profitable companies after Jungkook said he drank Kombucha and wore modernized hanbok. All these made huge headlines, especially in South Korea, to the point the Korean public become fully aware of Jungkook’s insane impact.
Recently, famous PD Na Yeong Seok, the producer of some of Korea’s biggest variety show hits like “1 night 2 days,” “New Journey to the West,” and “Three Meals a Day,” collaborated with BTS in “Run BTS” x “The Game Caterers” collaboration episode.
PD Na asked the members some questions like what J-hope ate the day before, what Jimin loves watching these days, and about RM being famous for accidentally breaking things. Came Jungkook’s turn, PD Na asked if he had bought anything in the past week, to which Jungkook replied with yes, he did buy something recently.
PD Na then asked Jungkook, “Then, will you say you watched The Game Caterers?” This earned laughter from the members, clearly amused with PD Na’s request. Suga then said to Jungkook, “Just say you bought it.”
Apparently, PD Na Yeong Seok was aware of Jungkook’s impact in selling out things and growing businesses. PD Na playfully asked Jungkook to promote his show “The Game Caterers,” and the members told Jungkook to say he bought it. It seems like everyone is generally aware of Jungkook’s impact as the “Sold Out King.”
Funnily enough, it didn’t take long for Jungkook to prove this, as he had caused the cookies he was protecting in the episode to be sold out!The ‘COUQUE D’ASSE’ cookie was sold out in many online shop retailers in South Korea after the episode.
