Jungkook steals the spotlight in GRAMMYs: from being the face of BTS on GRAMMYs website and The Guardian, to going viral among locals
STAR CONTRIBUTOR
Though BTS did not win the GRAMMYs, there are many amazing moments from the 63rd Grammy Awards which BTS and ARMY should be very proud of. Jungkook, in particular, receives so much attention from media, fans as well as locals for his flawless performance, top-tier vocals, stunning visual and world-class fame.
For starters, Jungkook's individual picture is used as the thumbnail to BTS' article, as part of GRAMMYs highlights on their official website. This isn't the first time something like this happened as previously Jungkook's individual picture was used by many other reputable media like Forbes and BBC to represent BTS. This further cements Jungkook's spot as the ultimate face of BTS and the most-recognised member.
Famous British media The Guardian, also includes Jungkook's individual picture to represent BTS in their article "Grammy awards 2021: HER, Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion and more – in pictures." Jungkook's individual picture with the caption "Jungkook of BTS performing" is the only BTS picture which is included in the whole article.
Similar thing happens with American media Sun Sentinel, which highlights Jungkook in their article "Grammy Awards 2021: Top Show Moments."Sun Sentinel includes a picture of Jungkook with the caption "In this screengrab, Jungkook (C) of BTS performs onstage during the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021."
Another reputable media Variety, gives Jungkook a special mention in their article "BTS’ 10 Top Moments of 2020 That Brought Them to the Grammys." According to Variety, Jungkook winning People magazine’s “Sexiest International Man” title was one of the contributors to BTS' rising public profile in 2020, which led BTS to a Grammy nomination. It is the only solo achievement from a BTS member which was included, alongside major BTS’ milestones achieved in 2020 like receiving Van Fleet Award and named TIME magazine’s “Entertainer of the Year.” This speaks volume of Jungkook's strong unrivalled presence among the general public and how his individual achievement had somehow contributed to a Grammy nomination for his group.
In addition, Jungkook becomes the BTS frontman on countless media worldwide following their GRAMMYs performance, including Harper's Bazaar, People, E! News, Us Weekly, Vulture, and more.
Besides major attention from the media, Jungkook also went viral among locals as "the guy in white suit who started the song/with blue mic/with silver hair." There were countless tweets from locals asking about Jungkook, clearly stunned with his looks, vocals and performance. Of course, being the Worldwide IT Boy with an insane level of global fame (he was even mentioned by The Simpsons!), there were some locals who already know him:
Jungkook not only steals the spotlight during the Grammy awards, he became the centre of attention during pre-GRAMMYs too. In MusiCares' "Music on a Mission" event, BTS performed their Grammy-nominated hit 'Dynamite' all clad in snazzy black suits. Jungkook looked stunning especially with his blue hairdo, but the fact that he was playing the drums was what made him stood out from the rest.
Jungkook, who was seen playing the instrument many times in BTS contents before, looked natural on the drums. Fans worldwide couldn't stop raving about it, as a result 'DRUMMER JUNGKOOK' and 'DRUMMER JK' were trending worldwide at #2 and #9 respectively. Jungkook was the only BTS member trending worldwide following the performance. Countless media highlighted Jungkook on the drums while praising his natural talent, and the fact that he was playing it whilst singing so flawlessly.
Jungkook not only local favourite but also media's 🥺
