IOK Company seems to be preparing to take an active role in the music industry, with former iKON member B.I's signing a contract with the company.
On January 21, IOK announced that they're preparing to launch a new K-Pop boy group and hinted at their new music projects in 2021.
The company used to have an active role in only acting and variety industry with famous actors such as Jo In Sung, Moon Hee Jun, Ji Suk Jin, and Lee Young Ja as well as other celebrities such as announcer Oh Sang Jin and comedian Kim Sook, whom we know from Video Star.
However, after B.I was appointed executive director of IOK Company under his own music label; "131 Label" in October of last year, the company has started music activities more. They even changed their official Twitter account's name to "iok_music" beside opening an account called "IOK music department" on Instagram to make announcements.
Their first post was for "IOK Idol Audition" on December 17, and they have started a male idol audition that will end on March 31, 2021, seeking talented in vocals, rap, and dance. During this idol audition, posters were hung showing that B.I is collaborating with his sub-label under IOK, "131 Label".
IOK Company also has opened applications in some dance / vocal academies. It seems like they will pick male trainees born in 2002 and later from academies.
After all these updates, there is talk of whether B.I influences this new change of his company. It is also among the predictions that B.I may be active as a producer for this new boy group.
IOK Company & 131 Label (B.I's own label) collaboration from the audition:
What do you think?
Seems interesting.
