Comedian Jang Dong Min has been entangled in a controversy over profanity again. He is coming under fire for having used profanities in an official meeting.
On the morning of July 11, the launch press conference of XtvN's new variety show "Scene's Quiz" was held in Stanford hotel, Sangam Ward, Mapo District, Seoul. The event that day had the participation of Jang Dong Min, Yoo Byung Jae, Heo Kyung Hwan, Yang Se Chan, and PD Lee Joon Suk.
On that day, Jang Dong Min cursed, "This XX" while sitting next to Yoo Byung Jae and then Yoo Byung Jae laughed out loud and said, "Do not curse, bro."
Next, Jang Dong Min also cursed PD Lee Joon Suk, "You XX", the artist line-up at the studio smiled and avoided the situation.
However, afterward, Jang Dong Min faced a barrage of criticism for his words, causing him to become a matter of controversy again. Although Jang Dong Min only meant to continue the pleasant atmosphere of the press conference with two comedians Heo Kyung Hwan, who used to work with him, Yang Se Chan, and television personality Yoo Byung Jae, the public criticized that the way Jang Dong Min talked was rude as it was an official event.
In particular, Jang Dong Min was also previously criticized for his women-demeaning statement when participating in the radio podcast program "Dreaming With Ongdalsaem" in 2014 with Yoo Se Yoon and Yoo Sang Moo, then had to give an apology and the program was canceled. In addition, the public frowned on him when he got caught up in controversies such as degrading single-parent families and humiliating the survivors of the fire case at Sampoong department store in a comedy show.
The job of a comedian is to pursue laughter so there is no chance that he does not know how to behave to lead a pleasant atmosphere in an official press conference. Nevertheless, the fact is that his rude words even made people around him feel uncomfortable so he really needs to self-examine.
In particular, Jang Dong Min has repeatedly bowed his head and apologized to the public for his words and actions. Jang Dong Min's careless speaking has been once again shaking his career as a comedian.
