tvN's 'Arthdal Chronicles' is currently surrounded by controversy for allegedly mistreating staff.
On April 9, the Hanbit Media Labor Rights Center announced tvN has not been providing satisfactory working conditions for staff and revealed they would be holding a press conference on the issue on April 10. The Hanbit Center aims to request the Seoul Employment and Labor Administration to have a government worker on set to oversee the working conditions of the staff members. A protest has also been planned for the same day in front of the CJ ENM building in the Mapo District of Seoul.
A rep from the Hope Solidarity Labor Union expressed, "Staff members of 'Arthdal Chronicles' have suffered from too long hours of labor. We initially filed complaints, but nothing has improved. When it comes to filming abroad, staff worked over 20 hours a day. A staff member who works with lights has suffered a fracture because of this. The incident occurred due to long hours and not the individual worker's attention."
The Hanbit Center was established following the suicide of 'Drinking Alone' producer Lee Han Bit in 2016, who is said to have suffered poor working conditions.
'Arthdal Chronicles' starring Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ji Won, and Kim Ok Bin is scheduled to premiere later this year. It's a historical drama revolving around the struggles, love, and growth in the ancient city of Arthdal. Stay tuned for updates.

When it comes to filming abroad, staff worked over 20 hours a day. That's disgusting, there are countries with no labour laws at all who are scoffing at that.
