Choi Jong-hoon, a former member of FT Island Roy Kim (real name: Kim Sang-woo) and Eddie Kim (real name: Kim Jung-hwan) have pleaded guilty to distributing pornography. In particular, Choi Jong-hoon admitted to illegal filming.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's metropolitan investigation unit said in a press conference held on April 11 that it will send to prosecution an opinion to indict one of the illegal recordings taken directly in a group chat room (illegal filming under the Sex Violence Punishment Act and distribution of obscene materials under the Information and Communication Network Act) and Choi Jong-hoon, who is suspected of posting five other obscene materials.
Roy Kim and Eddy Kim will also be sent to the prosecution on charges of distributing obscene materials under the Information and Communication Network Act. Although the two did not take the pictures themselves, they reportedly admitted to posting the pictures they downloaded online in the group chat room.
In addition, a former club Arena MD who is also a member of the same group chat room, was sent to prosecution on charges of illegal filming and distribution.
Police handed over a total of five people to prosecution, wrapping up their investigation into the illegal distribution of footage from the group chat room.
The investigation into Seungri, a former member of BIGBANG who was in the same chat room, has not yet ended. Seungri is also suspected of distributing obscene materials to the chat room, but it has yet to be confirmed whether the filming was illegal.
The police say they will send the case to the prosecution if the investigation on other charges is closed, as Seungri is also suspected of arranging prostitution, embezzling, club tax evasion, and colluding with the police chief.
Wishing for justice to prevail rightfully.
