SM Entertainment has announced plans to take legal action on behalf of EXO for rumors connecting a group member to Jung Joon Young's controversial chatroom.

On March 12, rumors alleging an EXO member is a part of the chatroom where Jung Joon Young distributed hidden camera sex tape footage spread online, and SM Entertainment quickly shut them down, stating, "The rumors about our artists being spread online are groundless, and the spread of this false information is causing damage to the artist and agency. We're announcing we'll take strong legal action against those who've participated in these illegal actions. We'll continue to take strong legal action against these malicious rumors and ask that you actively report to us."

Rumored chatroom member H who previously denied knowing anything was speculated to be model Heo Hyun. However, Heo Hyun's agency Agency Garten shut down speculation tying him to the chatroom, stating, "Garten model Heo Hyun has fallen under suspicion of being a member of the controversial KakaoTalk chatroom with celebrities. However, Garten's Heo Hyun only has the same name and has no acquaintance with the members. He's not related to the matter at all."

Another rumored member is the older brother of Girls' Generation's Yuri, Kwon Hyuk Joon, who appeared on 'I Live Alone' as Jung Joon Young's friend. On March 12, Kwon Hyuk Joon spoke up on Instagram, stating, "I'm diligently cooperating with all the investigations, and I don't think you have the right to judge whether or not I can hold my head up in terms of a crime... I don't know anything about the sexual escort services or what's being mentioned in the news." He further stated he was only in a chatroom for an outdoor restaurant business run by Seungri and Jung Joon Young and apologized to fans of his sister Yuri.
