BLACKPINK, the leading ladies of K-pop, are busy preparing for their 2019 world tour/global domination and are almost ready to share new music with their ever-growing fan base their label has announced. On Sunday night (March 24) the quartet's South Korean label, YG Entertainment, revealed details on their forthcoming release.
Their highly anticipated follow-up to their 2018 debut studio album BLACKPINK In Your Area will be an EP called Kill This Love, which will be released on April 5, just in time for the North American leg of BLACKPINK In Your Area World Tour.
A press release from the label, translated from Korean by Billboard, stated that BLACKPINK is currently working on the music video for the EP's forthcoming single, "Kill This Love."
The song "is a very fierce track, even more so than 'DDU-DU DDU-DU,'" their catchy hit single that took the world by storm last summer, the press release said. Their label also shared the group's newest dance routine "was composed by four world-famous choreographers, and is more dynamic than any of the choreography [previously] released by BLACKPINK."
Billboard points out the EP will be the group's first release since the announcement of their partnership with Interscope Records/Universal Music Group, who now represents the quartet in all markets outside of Asia.
The infectious "DDU-DU DDU-DU" became the most-viewed music video of any K-pop group on YouTube earlier this year, taking the place of BTS' "DNA." At the time of this writing, two months later, the girls' video remains in the top spot, with over 723 million views.
The group's North American tour kicks off in Los Angeles at The Forum on April 17, in between their Coachella performance dates on April 12 and 19, which marks the first-ever performance from an all-female K-pop group in its 20 years.
