Back in September 2017, Hyosung filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment over monetary issues and violation of the contract. Fellow member Ji Eun also began her court trial against the agency in August 2017. Recently on February 28, the court ruled Ji Eun's contract with TS Entertainment invalid, and Ji Eun officially announced her departure from the group.
TS Entertainment admitted they are in a legal battle with the members but denied rumors of SECRET's disbandment. However, Hyosung's side revealed she has no plans to promote as a member of SECRET or work with TS Entertainment again.
On March 5, lawyer Park Jung Ho in charge of Hyosung's case talked about the legal issue in depth with Star News.
Lawyer Park stated, "We have submitted a lawsuit to confirm her contract with TS Entertainment is invalid. Hyosung will definitely not be returning to SECRET." The lawyer explained monetary issues is major in the lawsuit and explained, "Various issues are intertwined. First, there are payments she failed to receive, and they transferred management rights to another business without an agreement with Hyosung. This is clearly a violation of the contract and a factor leading to unstable promotions (for Hyosung)."
He continued,"The trust in TS Entertainment has already been destroyed. There's no point in discussing a contract renewal."
Meanwhile, a rep from TS Entertainment told Star News on March 2, "Hyosung suddenly cut off all contact recently, and then we found out that she has filed a lawsuit regarding the contract." The rep continued, "We believe the period Hyosung was unreachable was right before she filed the lawsuit. It was basically a unilateral announcement about the invalidity of her contract."
