On October 24, Kangnam posted the following letter on Instagram:
"Hello. This is Kangnam. I was too greedy about wanting to make people laugh, so I said things that weren't right. I've found that my careless words and ignorance disappointed a lot of people and made them uncomfortable, and I've apologized to Kyung Li and Sam. I thought a lot about this as I'm still not good with writing Korean, and I wanted to clearly express my sincere feelings after disappointing a lot of people. I've gotten the help of an agency employee to write this. I want to sincerely apologize once again to Kyung Li and Sam, and I'm very thankful and apologetic to the viewers who criticized me and tried to teach me. I should have taken responsibility and shown a careful image as an entertainer, and I'm embarrassed and regretful that I didn't. I'll wake up more and reflect on myself, and I'll think and act more carefully as to not make these mistakes in the future. Once again, I sincerely apologize to all those who felt uncomfortable due to my carelessness."
As previously reported, Kangnam and Tony An visited Sam Okyere on SBS' 'My Ugly Duckling', and Kangnam asked a few insensitive questions about whether there were televisions and subways in Sam Okyere's home country of Ghana. He also received a lot of criticism for joking about beating up Kyung Li until she dies.
