1. Porcupine hair
This was a popular trend among male idol groups, especially in the '90s and '00s -- here, donned by Shinhwa's Lee Min Woo and TVXQ's Chang Min. How much hair product do you think they must've used to hold that up through all the dancing on stage?

2. Blatant colorblocking
Today, being subtle and adding a natural touch of color to hair reign supreme -- like the ombre and bayalage styles. But for Krystal, Narsha, and Hyunseung, it looked more as if blocks were dipped into the hair dye and stamped onto their hair in irregular patterns. For Hyunseung, look closely and there are so many things going on -- almost looks as if they put together samples of hair coloring they have for display at hair salons.

3. Where's your other eye?
How did they manage to sing and dance on stage with one eye covered? These asymmetrical bangs (donned by Micky Yoochun, Neil, and Narsha from left to right) look a bit suffocating.

4. Manbuns -- with a twist
Man buns -- like the classic way 2PM's Chansung wore it in the lower right -- may not be the most popular trend in South Korea. But they certainly have stood the test of time. Shinhwa's Eric added his own twist with side corn rows, FT Island's HongKi's expression says it all about his man bun. And B1A4 CNU wore it here in a half-updo style, with his trademark long hair back in the day.

5. Dreadlocks
Zico wore dreadlocks quite frequently during his early promotions with Block B. Big Bang members like Taeyang and T.O.P. have also explored various styles of dreadlocks and cornrows. As netizens are becoming more sensitive to cultural appropriation, they would have been called out on these looks had they been worn today.

6. Pompadour Galore
Before there was Snooki from Jersey Shore, there were '90s K-Pop idols. Idol stars back in the day, men and women alike, wore big hair in various styles. On the left, Baby Vox's Kim E-Z gave a lot of pomp to her half-updo. Fin.K.L's Sung Yuri was also known for giving off her princess-like flare with her big hair. And this was just one of Moon Hee Joon's endless range of crazy hairstyles back in his H.O.T. days.

7. String Cheese Hair
See-through bangs is a popular way to don bangs naturally in South Korea. But back in the day, idol stars like S.E.S.'s Bada, Baby Vox's Kan Mi Yeon, and Shinhwa's Eric and Shin Hye Sung always left off a couple of strands of hair that'd dangle around when they performed on stage.
