The nominees for the 'Korean Music Awards' were chosen based on album sales from December 1, 2015 to November 30, 2016. The winners were selected by a committee made up of 63 members that include professors, music critics, media journalists, PD's from music programs, and more.
Categories such as Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Best Pop Album, Best Rock Album, Best R&B song, Best Jazz song, and others were presented.
Singer Jay Park won 'Artist of the Year' and duo Bolppalgan4 took home 'Song of the Year' with "Red Planet." The 'Best Pop Song' went to Wonder Girls' "Why So Lonely," whereas BewhY's "Forever" was picked 'Best Rap & Hip Hop song.' Jay Park's 'Everything You Wanted' album was selected as 'Best R&B & Soul album.' Album of the Year went to Jo Dong Jin's 'Like A Tree.'
