The show first began airing in November of 2016 and was divided into two different segments. In the first segment, comedian Kim Jun Ho, Super Junior's Leeteuk, and LABOUM's Solbin turned into staff members of a "popular idol variety program" and held meetings with idol group guests in order to discover their talents and selling points. In the second segment, comedian couple Park Mi Sun and Lee Bong Won became on-screen parents to CLC's Sorn and NCT's Yuta as to help the two foreign idols adjust to living in Korea.
TV Joseon stated via their official homepage, "'Idol Party' will be taking a time of reorganization and renovation in order to bring viewers a more fulfilling show with more entertainment. The new 'Idol Party' will return mid-February. We promise to return with better and funnier content."
