Park Tae Hwan poured his soul into obtaining a spot in the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympics; unfortunately, his fight was all for naught. 

According to Yonhap News, a meeting was held on May 11 at the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC)'s conference room in Songpa District, Seoul. During the meeting, a total of 22 athletes (11 men and 11 women) were selected to represent Korea in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The criteria to pass as a representative for Korea in the Summer Olympics were based on the grading from the selection contests held back in April and February.

Because the KOC did not amend the provision stating that an athlete cannot be a member of the national team for three years following a suspension, Park Tae Hwan was ultimately left off South Korea's national swimming team. Park had even held a press conference to apologize, during which he had gotten down on his hands and knees. However, his efforts were all in vain, as it appears KOC are firm in their decision.
