Kim Soo Hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, issued an official statement regarding allegations that the late Sulli (Choi Jin Ri) was forced into filming the bed scene in the movie 'Real.'
On April 2, Golden Medalist clarified, “The role of Song Yoo Hwa, which the late Choi Jin Ri played, was a character that included a bed scene from the scriptwriting stage. Therefore, when casting, it was explicitly stated that the role required an actor capable of performing nude scenes.”
The agency emphasized, “Just as job postings specify essential qualifications for a position, the role of Song Yoo Hwa required nude acting, which had to be disclosed in advance. We believed that discussing nude scenes after casting would place even greater pressure and coercion on the actor.”
Golden Medalist further explained, “The script provided to the late Choi Jin Ri and her agency at the time included the bed scene, and character description materials contained information regarding the level of nudity involved. The contract also had clear clauses specifying the extent of nudity, and both Choi Jin Ri and her agency thoroughly reviewed these terms before agreeing to the role.”
Regarding the speculation about a body double, the agency stated, “There was no substitute actor performing in place of her. Rather, a ‘standing actor’ was present during the preparation stage to help with blocking movements, but they did not perform the scene.”

The agency also attached statements from 'Real's assistant director, Kim Jung Wook, and script supervisor, Lee Joon Hyun, who confirmed that the bed scene and all other sequences were filmed together as planned. They asserted, “Coercing an actor into a bed scene or a nude scene on set is something that should never happen in any production.”
Addressing recent claims by Sulli’s older brother, the agency denied ever contacting her mother and refuted his allegations, stating, “We understand that he may be curious about things he heard at the funeral. However, it is difficult to accept that he is bringing up events from six years ago now and presenting them on social media as if they were his firsthand experiences.”
Golden Medalist concluded, “We urge people to stop spreading reckless speculation, as it only causes harm to those who devoted their passion and effort to the film 'Real.' Additionally, unverified claims are being spread indiscriminately using Kim Soo Hyun’s current situation, and we sincerely ask for an end to speculative reports and baseless rumors.”
Below is Gold Medalist's full statement:
"First and foremost, we express our deepest condolences for the late Choi Jin Ri.
The role of Song Yoo Hwa, played by the late Choi Jin Ri, included a bed scene from the scriptwriting stage, which was explicitly stated when casting to ensure that only actors comfortable with nude performances would apply. Just as job postings specify essential qualifications, the role required nude acting, which needed to be disclosed in advance. We believed that discussing such scenes after casting would place an unnecessary burden and pressure on the actor.
The script provided to the late Choi Jin Ri and her agency at the time included the bed scene, and the character description materials contained details about the level of nudity involved. The contract also had specific clauses outlining the extent of nudity required. Both Choi Jin Ri and her agency reviewed these details before confirming her participation.
Nevertheless, we acknowledge that filming bed scenes requires great courage from actors, so the production team ensured thorough preparations in advance. The late Choi Jin Ri was fully aware of the scene beforehand and proceeded with the filming accordingly.
Regarding the claims raised by her older brother:
-
About the bed scene: The late Choi Jin Ri was aware of the scene and agreed to film it in advance.
-
About the body double: No actor performed in her place. A ‘standing actor’ was used solely for blocking movements during the preparation stage.
We have attached statements from Real’s assistant director Kim Jung Wook and script supervisor Lee Joon Hyun, who oversaw all filming, including the bed scene. We also reiterate that scriptwriting, storyboarding, and filming fall under the responsibility of the production team, and actor Kim Soo Hyun was not involved in any of these decisions.
As attested by key production staff, both the late Choi Jin Ri and her agency were fully informed about the role of Song Yoo Hwa. Coercing an actor into a bed scene or nude scene on set is unacceptable in any production.
Lastly, we clarify that we never contacted the late Choi Jin Ri’s mother and do not even have her contact information.
We understand that there may be curiosity regarding certain things heard at the funeral. However, bringing up events from six years ago now and presenting them as firsthand experiences on social media is difficult to accept.
We ask for an end to reckless speculation that hurts the many people who devoted their passion and energy to the film Real. Furthermore, unverified claims are being indiscriminately spread in connection with Kim Soo Hyun’s current situation. We earnestly request an end to speculative reports and rumors.
Thank you."
