Various sources reported Monday that Korean relief pitcher Oh Seung Hwan has signed a one year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals! You may know him best as the former boyfriend of Girls Generation's Yuri.
He is one of the best closers in all of Korea and is known as 'Stone Buddha' and 'Final King (or 'Final Boss').' On January 11, he passed his physical and was officially introduced as a part of the Cardinals team.
Oh became a free agent after his second season with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) and nine years with the Samsung Lions in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).' In both Korean and Japanese professional baseball, he sports a career 1.81 ERA, 2.1 walks per 9 innings, and 10.7 strikeouts per 9 innings.
Oh's signing with the Cardinals marks him as the third South Korean to sign with a Major League Baseball (MLB) team this off-season, following the Minnesota Twins' Park Byung Ho and the Baltimore Orioles' Kim Hyun Soo, both of whom were part of the KBO prior.

Ilgan Sports has also reported that the value of the contract signed by Oh includes a club option that can increase its value to 11 million USD.
