On January 12, the Seoul Central District Court gave updates on the ongoing 'Itaewon homicide' case, for which Arthur Patterson is the primary suspect.
After Patterson's ninth hearing, the courts revealed, "This month on the 15th, the trial will come to a close, and near the end of this month or next month, we will set a date to announce our verdict."
The final hearing that is to be held on January 15 will consist of the final opinions and testimonies from prosecution, the final defense from Patterson's attorney, and a final testimony from Patterson himself.
The family members of Jo Joong Pil, the victim in the case, will also give the last of their testimonies on January 14.

All witness interrogation is reportedly over after Patterson's parents themselves stood as witnesses for their son during the hearing. Patterson's parents were the last of the witnesses, and they asserted that their son is innocent.
Patterson's father was said to have stated that the United States Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID), who was in charge of the preliminary investigations, coerced his son into the investigation, and that even though he requested for the video files containing footage of the investigation for two years, they never fulfilled the request. The CID had pointed to Patterson as the actual criminal at the time of their investigation, and the results of their investigation were submitted to the courts as a part of crucial evidence.
The father of Edward Lee, who was originally thought to be the suspect, also stepped forward as a witness in the morning and said, "My son didn't kill anyone and the Supreme Court has acknowledged as much."
