Actor Lee Byung Hun has been making a name for himself in Hollywood, co-staring in sequels for blockbuster series like 'The Terminator', 'RED' and 'G.I. Joe'. And Hollywood has noticed. He's just become the very first Korean actor to be invited to the Academy Awards.
His agency BH Entertainment's rep stated on January 23, "Lee Byung Hun has been invited to the Academy Awards. We don't know what part he will play and we don't yet know the specifics of the matter."
They added, "He's not a nominee but he feels honored and thankful as an actor for receiving an invitation to the Academy Awards. That's why he's decided [to attend]."
In related news, the Academy Awards has been receiving controversy for its lack of diversity. So at least the guest list will be a little more diverse with Lee Byung Hun there!
