The Supreme Court has ruled that Sewol Ferry's captain Lee Joon Seok, is guilty of murder. It's been decreed that he did not take relief measures and is judged to have done willful negligence.
On November 12 KST, every single one of the Justices in the Supreme Court ruled that captain Lee Joon Seok is to be sentenced to life imprisonment. It was the hearing of the final appeal for the captain and crew, and the Supreme Court stuck with the original judgment.
Two of the navigation officers and the chief engineer were not charged with murder, but charged for abandoning ship.
The remaining crew of 14 people were sentenced to prison ranging from one year and 6 months to 7 years.

In the first hearing, Lee Joon Seok had pleaded not for murder but for negligence. In the second hearing, he had admitted to murder. His sentence was then raised to life imprisonment.
