MBC's music competition program 'I Am a Singer 2' ended its run with a final episode last Sunday.
The show, which featured a collection of famous and talented artists facing off against each other in a performance competition, has long been dogged with lower-than-expected ratings and high production value. Although it was a highly-anticipated sequel to the original 'I Am a Singer' - which turned both the variety world and the music world on their heads when it premiered in 2010 - the sequel could not live up to its predecessor, being mired in single-digit ratings for the entirety of its run.
Featuring talented singers and legendary performers such as Lee Eun Mi, Kim Gun Mo, Park Wan Gyu, and others, the program still delivered a talent-packed show to its audience every weekend.
The show also suffered from scheduling problems, as the schedule changed from live performances to pre-recorded ones to accommodate criticisms such as a lack of professional among MCs and lowered standards.
It's unknown if the program will return with a season 3 next year, or if this will be the last we will see of 'I Am a Singer'. Its replacement program, a real variety program called 'Dad, Where Are You Going', will air its first episode in January.
