Veteran singer Jo Sung Mo has opened up about his deceased brother for the first time in 14 years.
On March 13th, Jo Sung Mo guested on jTBC's Park Kyung Lim's "Oh! Happy Day" explaining, "From my debut single 'To Heaven' and to 'Do You Know?', my songs unusually had a lot of lyrics regarding the deceased".
The singer added, "At the time, I would cry so frequently whenever I would sing or win an award so people thought of me as being strange". It has been revealed that the reason for Jo Sung Mo's frequent tears was due to the death of his older brother. While Jo Sung Mo was preparing for his debut, his older brother, who suffered from autism, went missing. However, at the time, his family kept it a secret from him because they did not want to shock or worry him.
Jo Sung Mo continued to explain through his tears, "One day, my brother came to me in my dream, and I realized this was his visit to me before he died. After I woke up from my dream I called my parents and that is when they told me that my brother went missing a few days ago and had passed away from a hit and run accident. This is why whenever I sang "To Heaven", I would think of my brother and cry. But thanks to this song, I feel like my brother is always in my heart, so it makes me happy".
During this recording, Jo Sung Mo showed an impromptu performance of "To Heaven", but had to stop at one point due to his tears. While watching him, the cast, crew, and fans could not hold back their emotions either and the whole studio became a sea of tears.
Viewers will be able to watch this broadcast on March 13th, for now check out the music video that took Korea by storm, 'To Heaven'.
