Singer Park Jung Hyun confessed that when she was living in the States, she was bullied by classmates because of her ethnicity. On November 15th's episode of 'Win Win', the host brought up how she was nicknamed as the 'nation's fairy' because of her cute, petite appearance. It made Park Jung Hyun reflect on the times when her appearance actually caused her pain. She began, "I was often made fun of as an Asian American, especially about my eyes. Since I was born in America and grew up under Western influence and perspective, I thought that big eyes were a must." Park Jung Hyun continued, "I didn't have any confidence among my western classmates and I had hard times making new friends." "Back in the 80's especially, Korea wasn't very well-known. At the school I attended, there were only three Asians, including me and my little brother. Kids would squint their eyes and spit at us. I was really scared." "I also never said a sentence at school. The only times I spoke were when I was answering the teacher's questions," she said. Source: Nate
