In celebration of Hangul (Korean) week, MBC will be broadcasting a 70-minute special called 'Communication, Connecting Through Hangul 2'. The special will pay particular attention to the rising use of Korean that simply doesn't make any sense in various K-Pop songs. Producers picked out lyrics from some popular songs and set out to the streets of Myung-dong to get opinions from passing Koreans. The survey asked, "These are lyrics from idol group songs. Do you know the meaning behind these lyrics?" 1. Supa Dupa Diva (Dal Shabet's - "Supa Dupa Diva") 2. I'm in danger, one layer, two layer, thin like a pastry [f(x)'s - "Danger") 3. Come up with a creative nickname, for example 'Goong Di Goong Di' [f(x)'s - Nu ABO] Results showed that 90% of Koreans did not understand what the lyrics meant, proving that it was necessary to promote the right and proper usage of Korean. The show also covered the rising use of profanity in the youth. Last year, only 5% of teens reported that they didn't use profanity in their every day speech, and the percentage of those who don't use profanity was revealed to have decreased this year. Producers even ran a study at an internet cafe and found that teens swore 29 times in one minute and once every two seconds while playing video games. The full show will air on October 7th.
