The Shorty Awards, an annual competition to recognize Twitter's most popular personalities, have announced their finalists. �It comes as no surprise that a number of Korean singers were named finalists, given the global reach of kpop music. Specifically, under the "Celebrity" category, a whopping 3 of the 6 finalists were Korean singers including JYJ's Jaejoong, Super Junior's Heechul, and Jay Park. �The other three finalists were teen sensation Justin Bieber, One Direction member Niall Horan (a British boyband), and Disney star Selena Gomez. Under the "Entertainment" category, kpop also had a strong showing, with 2 of the 6 finalists being JYJ's Yoochun twitter page and SNSD fansite Soshified. In the "Fashion" category, JYJ's Jaejoong was also nominated as a finalist. Under the "Music" category, JYJ's Junsu was a finalist, along with the Jonas Brothers, British boyband One Direction, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, and singer/songwriter Nick Brown. Interestingly enough, Heechul was also a finalist in the "Social Media Experiment" category. From here on, the�Real-Time Academy of Short Form Arts & Sciences will determine the winners from among these finalists. The announcement will be made at the Shorty Awards Ceremony on Monday, March 28th, 2011 at The TimesCenter in New York City, and winners will be attending to pick up awards. �Best of luck to the finalists!
