Kim Soo Hyun is at risk of being dropped from an upcoming event in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with reports suggesting that he could face a massive contract penalty.
On March 19th, Taiwanese media outlet ET Today reported that Kim Soo Hyun’s scheduled appearance at a Seven-Eleven-sponsored event for the cherry blossom season in Kaohsiung is in jeopardy. The event is set to take place from March 19th.
Prior to the controversy, Kim Soo Hyun had visited Taiwan to discuss the project. Seven-Eleven had planned to release three limited-edition products featuring Kim Soo Hyun’s face, including food items, coffee cups, and cup sleeves, which were set to be unveiled at the event.
However, with his recent scandal, Seven-Eleven is now reconsidering his participation. According to the media outlet, Kim Soo Hyun’s chances of attending the event are extremely low.
Last year, the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival attracted around 60,000 fans. This year’s event, taking place at the end of March, was set to feature superstars from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong, including Kim Soo Hyun and Koda Kumi. Kim Soo Hyun was specifically scheduled to headline a 40-minute performance on the festival’s final day.
Given the scale of the event, his cancellation penalty is expected to reach 30 million TWD (approximately 1.32 billion KRW).
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun has recently come under intense criticism following allegations that he had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron since she was a minor. As a result, several brands he represented as a commercial model have been terminating their contracts.
