Top singer and actress IU (real name Lee Ji Eun) revealed that she has no intention of inheriting her parents' wealth.
In the new episode of 'Salon Drip 2' released on the YouTube channel 'TEO' on March 11, IU appeared as a guest.
In the video, IU mentioned, "Our family never runs out of conversation topics." She gave an example, saying, "We talk about everything, like 'How long do you want to live?'"
Comedian Jang Do Yeon asked IU, "How long do you want to live?"
IU responded, "I want to live until I'm 80." She explained, "I promised my fans that I would fill a gymnastics arena with my fans until I'm 70, so I have to live until then."
When Jang Do Yeon replied, "Don't you need to edit that promise?" IU said, "By then, I might want to rest."
IU also said, "When I'm about 80, my father said he wants to live until he's 106. I hope I can live like my mom and dad. They're my best friends." She added, "Living a day or two more without my parents feels a bit uncomfortable," showing her deep filial love.
IU shared, "I tell my younger brother, 'You really need to be filial. When our parents pass away, will they give me the inheritance?' and 'You’re going to inherit everything anyway.'"
When Jang Do Yeon asked if IU had such conversations, IU replied, "I’ve already financially become independent." IU revealed, "I don’t think my parents have any intention of leaving me an inheritance. I actually asked them about it."

She added, "I asked how they would divide the inheritance, and my dad said he would divide it equally among the four of us. So, I told him, 'I’m good. Just exclude me, and divide it into thirds without my share.'" IU further shared, "I told my younger brother to be more filial. These conversations are a mixed between joking and serious talk."
Meanwhile, IU debuted in 2008 with the single 'Lost Child.' She gained popularity with hits like "Boo" and "Marshmallow," and solidified her stardom with "Good Day" in 2010.
She consistently released hit songs like "You and I," "Pink Shoes," "Friday," and "Palette," growing into one of Korea's representative female singer-songwriters. She also found success as an actress in dramas like 'My Mister' (2018), 'Hotel Del Luna' (2019), and the movie 'Broker' (2022). IU has practiced philanthropy on anniversaries such as her debut, birthday, and year-end, and her total donations are known to exceed several hundred million KRW.
IU also appeared in the Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' which was released on March 7. Netflix plans to release a total of 16 episodes (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) over the next four weeks. IU collaborated with actor Park Bo Gum, and the drama was created by writer Lim Sang Choon, known for 'Fight For My Way' (2017) and 'When the Camellia Blooms' (2019), and director Kim Won Shik, known for 'Misaeng' (2014) and 'My Mister' (2018).
The series tells the story of the adventurous lives of "Ae Soon" (IU), a rebellious and cunning woman born in Jeju, and "Kwan Shik" (Park Bo Gum), a clumsy but strong man, spanning through the four seasons. IU will also star in the upcoming MBC drama '21st Century Great Lady' (tentative title) later this year.
