Hani (Ahn Hee Yeon), a member of EXID, recently gave fans a glimpse into her life, marking her first update since postponing her wedding with psychiatrist Yang Jae Woong eight months ago.
On March 1, Hani posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption “Dharamsala.” The photo, taken in the northern Indian city, showed her with a fresh new look—having cut her long hair into a short bob. She appeared makeup-free and smiling brightly.
Hani and Yang Jae Woong had initially planned to tie the knot in September last year after four years of dating. However, the wedding was postponed following an incident at Yang Jae Woong’s psychiatric hospital, where a patient’s death led to ongoing legal proceedings. At the time, a representative stated, “The rescheduled date has not been set, but their relationship remains unchanged.”
The controversy stemmed from the May 27, 2024 incident, where a woman in her 30s, identified as A, passed away at a psychiatric hospital in Bucheon operated by Yang Jae Woong. She had been admitted for treatment related to diet pill addiction, but died 17 days later from suspected paralytic ileus. CCTV footage revealed that medical staff, including nurses and caregivers, restrained her to a bed and administered sedatives despite her complaints of severe pain. Her family later filed a lawsuit, accusing the hospital staff of neglect leading to death and professional negligence resulting in death.
In mid-January, the Bucheon Wonmi Police Department temporarily halted its investigation, citing a pending expert opinion from the Korean Medical Association (KMA), which had been requested in late October. The police clarified, “This is a procedural suspension. Once the KMA provides its findings, we will conclude the investigation and determine whether to forward the case for prosecution.”
