Fans were left shocked after EPIK HIGH and INFINITE revealed that neither group ever received any revenue from the streaming of their music during their time under Woollim Entertainment. The revelation came during a recent episode of EPIK HIGH’s YouTube show 'Bad Bros,' where INFINITE's Sungkyu and Woohyun guested, and the artists candidly discussed their experiences with unfair contracts.
During the episode, Tablo led the conversation, saying that EPIK HIGH had never received any revenue from the streams of their songs while they were in Woollim Entertainment, to which Sungkyu and Woohyun added that they had the same experience. This surprised Tablo since digital streaming sites like Melon were well established during INFINITE's time, when they achieved massive success with hits like “Be Mine”. Tablo disclosed that EPIK HIGH's song, “Fly,” had amassed a staggering 3.7 billion streams in its first week, yet the group never saw a single cent from it.
Tablo explained that back when they signed their contracts, digital music was still in its early stages, and streaming revenue was not a major point of discussion. As a result, both EPIK HIGH and INFINITE unknowingly became victims of unfair contract terms that did not allocate earnings from digital platforms. This lack of foresight led to years of lost revenue, even as their music dominated the charts.
Despite the serious discussion, the episode showed great chemistry between former labelmates EPIK HIGH and INFINITE, making it an entertaining must-watch for fans.
INFINITE is due to come back tomorrow with their 8th mini album, 'LIKE INFINITE.'
