'The Glory' actress Cha Joo Young recently showcased her strong acting skills in TVING’s 'The Queen Who Crowns' once again. The actress has gained recognition for her acting skills and she recently spoke out about rumors regarding her wealthy financial background.

On the February 19 episode of tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block,' Cha Joo Young clarified the speculation surrounding her being from a wealthy family.

She stated. "I'm not from a wealthy family. However, it’s true that my father works in finance, and most of my relatives are also in the financial sector, so I grew up seeing that world."

She continued, "I naturally thought I would end up in that field as well. I was studying ballet when my parents suddenly informed me that I would be studying abroad. I thought I was going to the U.S., but when I opened my eyes, I was in Malaysia. My parents wanted me to experience the Asian market before going to university in the UK or the U.S."

Cha Joo Young also revealed that she faced significant opposition from her father regarding her acting career. "My father was strict, and I grew up in a very patriarchal environment where acting didn’t seem like an option," she admitted. "But I started thinking about a job where I could leave behind a part of myself. I figured I could always study later, so I decided to pursue something that truly drew me in."

She also candidly shared the struggles she faces as an actress. She explained, "Ambiguity has always been my driving force. I always wanted to prove myself in uncertain situations." She added, "I’ve always felt like an outsider like I never truly belonged anywhere. At one point, I even felt embarrassed writing ‘actor’ as my occupation. I wanted to create something uniquely mine."

Cha Joo Young also spoke about her dedication to acting, saying, "When I’m working on a project, I don’t sleep. My gums have receded. I don’t know how to cut corners, so I keep going until I get it right. I feel like I can only call myself an actor when I’ve truly done my part." She became emotional as she spoke.

She also shared behind-the-scenes stories from Netflix’s 'The Glory.'

She explained, "I knew it would be successful. " She continued, "As an actress, I was also observing how my fellow actors performed. On set, everyone was giving it their all. We were all desperate."

She recalled asking the director, "How did you come up with the idea of assembling 'The Glory' team?" and was told that the director saw the passion in the actors. She emphasized, "Even though we all got along really well, no one had casual conversations on set. We came in, did exactly what we had prepared, and left. Everyone had the mindset that 'The Glory' had to succeed and that we couldn’t let each other down. Everyone worked incredibly hard."

tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block' airs every Wednesday at 8:45 PM KST.
