On January 29, Girls' Generation member and actress YoonA opened her final broadcast as the host of the '2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon' after a decade-long tenure.

The '2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon,' unveiled on January 29, showcased the dream performances of K-pop artists under the theme 'WANNABE,' with YoonA, SHINee’s Minho, and TWS’s Dohoon as hosts. The event marked the closing chapter of 2024, celebrating the year’s musical highlights.

The opening performance featured a special collaboration of leading 'refreshing idols.' TWS’s Shinyu and Dohoon, ZEROBASEONE’s Zhang Hao, and BOYNEXTDOOR’s Taesan joined forces for a stage that captured the hearts of fans. They performed DAY6’s hit song 'Time of Our Life,' a track that resurged in popularity last year. The rookies’ youthful energy and passion resonated deeply, amplifying the emotional impact of the song and touching the audience.

Among the performers, Dohoon had a special connection with the hosts, having co-hosted the event alongside veteran idols Minho and YoonA. After his performance, he quickly transitioned back into his MC role, picking up the microphone and cue cards to greet the audience once more.

“First meetings are always tough, but it’s an honor to stand here with two people I’ve always admired,” Dohoon said, cleverly referencing the lyrics of TWS’s hit song 'plot twist.' He added, “We’re here to fill in the final page of 2024,” further heightening excitement for the night’s performances.

YoonA, in particular, left a lasting impression with her remarks. “I am your MC, Im YoonA, and I’ve now been with you for ten years,” she said, acknowledging her final year as the show’s host.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “I have been an MC for '2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon' for ten years now. I will continue to support and watch over the show. I had such a great time, but today, more than ever, I wish time would slow down.” Her heartfelt words conveyed deep gratitude and nostalgia, moving both fans and fellow artists.

Despite the emotional moment, YoonA maintained her signature poise as an MC. When discussing anticipated performances, she joked, “As the nation’s center, I’m looking forward to seeing the MZ generation’s 'wannabe' centers take the stage.” With this, anticipation grew for how YoonA would conclude her remarkable 10-year journey as the face of '2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon.'
