Model Lee Sian, who is currently appearing on Netflix's variety show 'Single's Inferno Season 4,' has been sued for violating her exclusive contract.
On January 21, Leaders Entertainment announced that it is pursuing legal action against Lee Sian, a contestant from 'Single’s Inferno Season 4,' for violating her exclusive contract and additional agreed-upon terms.
Leaders Entertainment began managing Lee Sian’s activities in August 2023. In April 2024, the agency negotiated with Lee regarding her participation in 'Single’s Inferno Season 4,' drafting an extension to her existing exclusive contract.
This extension added 18 months to her original agreement, which was set to expire on October 25, 2024. Leaders emphasized that the agreement was reached following detailed discussions with Lee and her parents, with Lee reportedly expressing strong enthusiasm for appearing on the show.
The two parties signed the 'Single’s Inferno Season 4' appearance contract in May 2024, and filming took place in June. However, after production was completed, Lee abruptly informed the agency in August 2024 that she intended to terminate her exclusive contract.
In a statement, Leaders Entertainment said, “On October 21, 2024, Lee, through her representative, unilaterally informed us of her decision to cease all activities under the contract. Her objections regarding the validity of the exclusive contract are unfounded. Every production-related agreement was handled under Leaders CEO Kim Geun Soo’s authority, and Lee provided both written and verbal consent throughout the process.”
The agency expressed its disappointment and stressed the importance of transparency in entertainment contracts. Leaders stated that they have gathered substantial evidence to support their case and have begun legal proceedings.
The company criticized Lee’s actions, stating, “We worked tirelessly to ensure that her participation in 'Single’s Inferno Season 4' would be a valuable opportunity for her personal and professional growth. Her decision to disregard the contract and unilaterally announce the termination of her activities has misled both the agency and the production team.”
Leaders Entertainment concluded by underscoring its commitment to raising awareness about the significance of fair contractual practices in the entertainment industry and preventing similar incidents in the future.
