On December 23, Choi Hyung In, the producer of SBS’s popular variety show 'Running Man,' shared his thoughts in a phone interview with OSEN regarding the program’s upcoming milestone.
'Running Man' first aired in July 2010 and celebrated its 14th anniversary this year and will be its 15th anniversary in 2025. As one of the longest-running reality-variety shows currently on air, it holds a unique place in the history of Korean entertainment. Choi Hyung In took over as the main producer in August 2022, following Choi Bo Pil.
When asked what kind of humor he aims to bring to the show, which has become the longest-running reality-variety show in Korea, Choi Hyung In humbly replied, “After 14 years, there’s not much we haven’t done,” but added, “I think the best goal is to provide a sense of comfortable humor.”
He continued, “We don’t want anything overly staged. I think showcasing the chemistry between the members, Ji Hye Eun, and perhaps even introducing someone new to add energy would be the right approach. It’s not about doing something extraordinarily new, but rather creating something comfortable and enjoyable.”
When asked about plans for the upcoming 15th anniversary, the producer responded, “I would love for us to go overseas, but with the current situation, we’ll need to think about it more. I’ll be able to share more concrete plans next year.”
With the addition of Ji Hye Eun, 'Running Man' now boasts a total of seven members: Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, Song Ji Hyo, Haha, Yang Se Chan, and Ji Hye Eun. The show airs every Sunday at 6:10 PM.
