Allegations about WINNER member Song Min Ho’s inadequate performance during his military service as a social service agent continue to surface, and an additional investigation request has been filed to investigate the actions of the public official overseeing him.
According to an exclusive report by Sports Kyunghyang, on December 24, Seoul’s Mapo Police Station confirmed receiving a formal request to investigate claims of "military service document manipulation" involving Song Min Ho and Mr. L, the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility director where Song served.
Earlier, the police had launched a preliminary investigation after a citizen complaint was filed through the National Sinmungo system, alleging that Song Min Ho’s attendance records were falsified by his supervisor. To support the investigation, authorities have requested the preservation of CCTV footage from the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility.
The new investigation request raises concerns about a potential special relationship between Mr. L and Song Min Ho. It points to the '2024 Social Service Agent Duty Management Manual,' which specifies that institutions capable of managing internal reassignments across multiple service areas are exempt from reassignment requests for health-related reasons. The request suggests that Mr. L may have unlawfully influenced the reassignment process to ensure Song Min Ho’s placement at the facility.
Whistleblowers have further claimed that Song Min Ho received preferential treatment during his service under Mr. L’s supervision at the Mapo Facilities Management Corporation. They highlighted that just one month after transferring to the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility, Mr. L brought Song there as well. This has raised suspicions that Mr. L’s actions were deliberately intended to grant Song Min Ho special privileges. Additionally, there are allegations that Song Min Ho and Mr. L may have conspired in advance to manipulate the terms of Song Min Ho’s service.
The investigation request calls for an immediate inquiry into Mr. L’s conduct, along with a detailed review of communication records, financial transactions, and Song Min Ho’s attendance logs. Authorities are also being urged to conduct a search and seizure to gather further evidence.
Song Min Ho completed his service at the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility on December 23. However, accusations have emerged that he traveled abroad in October, failed to report to work during that time, and did not show up on his final day of service.
Other social service agents who worked with Song have made additional claims, stating that many of their colleagues rarely attended work, received special privileges as entertainers, neglected their duties, and violated regulations such as dress codes. These allegations have intensified public scrutiny over Song Min Ho’s service record.
YG Entertainment stated, “The medical reasons for his assignment stem from the continuation of treatment he had been receiving prior to his service, and all leaves and absences were used in accordance with regulations.”
Currently, the police and the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) are investigating allegations of inadequate duty performance during Song Minho’s time as a social service agent. Both Song Min Ho and YG Entertainment have expressed their intention to monitor the investigation process and its outcome.
