With much anticipation for season 2 of the megahit series 'Squid Game' continues, attention has been directed to its cast.
In particular, one actress has already begun landing luxury brand deals and has been the new topic of discussion in a popular online community. Recently, Jo Yu Ri was spotted at Gucci’s flagship store in Seoul, sparking speculation that she may have secured a brand partnership even before the drama's premiere.
On December 5, Gucci unveiled photos of celebrities visiting their holiday-themed store at The Hyundai Seoul department store. Jo Yu Ri was among the featured stars on the social media page.
Not only that, Jo Yu Ri was seen donning outfits from Gucci during the production presentation events for 'Squid Game 2.'
Korean netizens commented:
"Jo Yu Ri already invited to a Gucci Event — Full Sponsorship for Every Squid Game Event Too?"
"Looks like Jo Yu Ri is already getting event invites and full sponsorships for official Squid Game events. I wonder if she'll attend Gucci Fashion Week next year after the show's release."
"Usually, this is how the 'ambassador process' goes, right?"
"Yeah, they start with full sponsorships at events to test the waters, and then they get offered the ambassador role. That's how it went for the actress from The Little Mermaid too!"
"Whoa, Park Gyu Young is also a Gucci ambassador, and it seems like Gucci has a certain 'type' they prefer."
"Where does it say she’s an ambassador though?"
"This is just her first time being invited to a Gucci brand event. Usually, pop-ups like this have at least one ambassador present."
"Squid Game ambassadors for Gucci are on another level, LOL. How many are there now?"
"She’s not an ambassador yet, is she? She could just be a 'friend of the brand.' I'd be happy if she becomes one, but jumping the gun like this could backfire."
"What's with all this 'full sponsorship as a trial run' talk? Some people are so delusional. Why are all the Squid Game cast members like this? You all hype it up like she's already an ambassador and now you're saying 'they're just testing the waters' — is this some kind of viral marketing tactic?"
"This season of Squid Game feels like they’re overhyping every little thing, as if it's worth 100 or 200 times more than it actually is."
"Full sponsorships are common even for idols... being fully sponsored doesn’t mean she’s an ambassador."
