A wave of cancellations for Saturday dramas and variety shows has been announced as the impeachment vote against President Yoon Suk Yeol approaches.
According to OSEN’s report on the 13th, SBS confirmed that Episode 11 of the Friday-Saturday drama 'The Fiery Priest 2', originally scheduled to air on the 14th, will be canceled. An SBS representative stated, “The 11th episode scheduled for the 14th will not air.”
However, SBS’s investigative program 'Unanswered Questions', airing at 11:10 PM, will be broadcast as scheduled.
The program, originally planned to cover the North Han River dismemberment murder case, will instead explore the events surrounding the 'Seoul Nights, Presidential Days – The 12/3 Martial Law Crisis.'
Similarly, Channel A’s weekend drama 'Marry You' will also be preempted. With the impeachment vote scheduled for 4 PM, the drama’s 9th episode, originally set to air at 7:50 PM, will not be broadcast.
The missed 9th episode will instead air back-to-back with the 10th episode on the 15th, starting at 7:50 PM. Notably, the 10-episode drama is approaching its finale this week, but the consecutive cancellations have left viewers disappointed.
JTBC quickly announced changes to its schedule. On the 12th, JTBC stated, “We are notifying you of the schedule changes for December 14 (Saturday) due to news special programming.”
As per JTBC, Episode 462 of 'Knowing Bros' and Episode 4 of the weekend drama 'The Tale of Lady Ok' will be preempted. 'The Tale of Lady Ok' will air Episode 4 on the 15th at 10:30 PM.
MBC’s schedule remains the most fluid. The broadcaster has been operating under a news special system since the morning, affecting its programming. As a result, 'Show! Music Core', which airs every Saturday at 3:15 PM, was canceled last week on the 7th but is scheduled to air on the 15th at 2:05 PM instead.
Similarly, 'Hangout with Yoo' has been confirmed to skip its broadcast for two consecutive weeks. Meanwhile, the Friday-Saturday drama 'When the Phone Rings' and the variety show 'Point of Omniscient Interfere' remain on the schedule but are subject to possible changes, depending on developments.
KBS 2TV, on the other hand, remains largely unaffected as the news special coverage is handled by KBS 1TV. However, 'I Am a Singer in Germany' will air a special episode.
Meanwhile, as the second impeachment vote against President Yoon Suk Yeol unfolds on the 14th, protests demanding his impeachment are being held nationwide, including outside the National Assembly. Major broadcasters, cable channels, and news networks continue to provide special coverage of the developing situation.
