Karina of aespa has been appointed as the new ‘Santa’ for Shinsegae Department Store’s Christmas campaign. The announcement was made through a campaign video produced by Dolphin Kidnappers, the team behind some of NewJeans’ music videos.

On December 2nd KST, Shinsegae Department Store’s official Instagram account posted a message along with a photo of Karina:

“Hi, there was a minor accident today. I'll take the responsibility to make sure that there will be no issues with delivering Christmas gifts, so no worries children. I have Santa’s phone, so if anyone needs to reach out urgently, please contact me and I'll get back to you. Thank you.” The profile picture of the official account was also changed to Karina’s photo.

Karina responded to the post via her personal Instagram account, commenting, “I’m excellent at deliveries.”

Earlier, on December 1st, Shinsegae Department Store’s Instagram teased the campaign with the message: “HELLO, NEW SANTA Teaser ‘8-ton truck with broken steering’” and a teaser video. The video featured Santa involved in a car accident and lying in a hospital bed, with Karina looking at him. The video was created by Dolphin Kidnappers, known for directing NewJeans’ music videos, including "OMG" and "Ditto".
