Kim Ho Joong's commitment to giving back shows no signs of stopping. On November 26, officials from Sky Hill, a facility under the Love Welfare Foundation in Seocho-gu, Seoul, revealed to MK Sports that the singer has been making monthly donations of 1 million KRW since February 2022. "Even this month, we received a donation via automatic transfer," they confirmed.
Kim Ho Joong's connection with Sky Hill began during his service as a public service worker in Seocho-gu. Struck by the facility’s limited resources, Kim began supporting the organization quietly after completing his duties in 2022.
Over the past three years, his consistent monthly contributions have totaled approximately 34 million KRW (About USD 24,000). An official stated, "While we cannot disclose the exact total, it is true that Kim has been donating 1 million KRW (About USD 716) every month through automatic transfers."
Kim’s support goes beyond monetary donations. After his international performances, he sends gifts to the residents of the facility and organizes events like movie outings and music concerts annually. These efforts have deeply moved both staff and families of the residents, with some even submitting petitions of leniency on his behalf during legal proceedings.
Despite ongoing legal issues, Kim Ho Joong remains dedicated to his philanthropic efforts. In May of this year, he donated 15 million KRW (About 10,734) to provide meals and cover operational expenses for a homeless shelter near Seoul Station, benefiting over 250 individuals.
Kim Ho Joong faced legal challenges after being accused of driving under the influence and causing an accident in Gangnam, Seoul, on May 9. He allegedly fled the scene after colliding with a taxi on the opposite side of the road. On November 13, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Kim to 2 years and 6 months in prison for violations of the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (Dangerous Driving Injury). His legal team has since filed an appeal.
Kim Ho Joong's generosity, however, continues to shine despite his difficulties, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to supporting those in need.
