At the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards, actor Jung Woo Sung openly addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding his personal life, particularly regarding his recently acknowledged illegitimate child.
On November 29, at the award ceremony held at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, Jung Woo-sung appeared as a presenter alongside actor Hwang Jung Min. His attendance had been uncertain, but he received a warm reception as he introduced himself, saying, “I’m Jung Woo Sung.”
The film 12.12: The Day in which both Jung Woo Sung and Hwang Jung Min starred, won the Most-Viewed Film award, with over 13 million viewers. Jung Woo Sung shared his gratitude and recognition, but the actor also addressed the controversy surrounding his personal life.
With a solemn expression, Jung Woo Sung stated, “First, I sincerely thank all the audiences who watched 12.12: The Day. I stand here today with the hope that my personal matters do not stain the film or its collaborators."
He continued, “I deeply apologize for causing concern and disappointment to everyone who has supported and had expectations of me. I will take all the criticism and bear the responsibility. As a father, I will fulfill my duty to my son until the end.”
Jung Woo Sung made headlines earlier on November 24, when he officially confirmed that he is the biological father of a child born to model Moon Ga Bi. His agency later released a statement confirming the child’s paternity, adding, "We are currently discussing the best way to raise the child, and Jung Woo Sung will take full responsibility for him." Despite the confirmation, the actor has faced intense scrutiny regarding his private life, leading to a wave of public speculation and media attention.
