BTS’s Jimin has reaffirmed his overwhelming popularity in Japan, achieving a stunning milestone in K-pop history.
In the latest poll by Japanese K-culture platform Danmee, held from October 15 to 29, 2024, Jimin claimed the top spot in the ‘October K-pop Male Idol Popularity Contest.’ Out of 5,866 votes cast, Jimin secured 2,125 votes, dominating with 36.23% of the total and marking his 20th consecutive month as the favorite male idol.
The poll, designed to gauge authentic fan sentiment, strictly allowed one vote per person. A total of 28 idols were shortlisted based on criteria like activity levels in Korea, brand reputation rankings, mentions on X (formerly Twitter), and media coverage through Danmee. Jimin’s win further solidifies his legendary status in the K-pop realm.
In celebration of his reign, Danmee also announced Jimin’s upcoming solo exhibition, The Truth Untold: Fanne Gruit, set to open in Tokyo from January 10 to February 16, 2025. Fans will get a closer look at Jimin’s solo career, with exhibits featuring stage outfits, props, and trophies. This follows the Seoul edition of the exhibit, which drew massive crowds and rave reviews.
Jimin’s global influence doesn’t stop there. His single ‘Who,’ released during his military service, recently hit 1 billion streams on Spotify as of November 13. The track achieved this feat in just 118 days, becoming the fastest solo song by a male artist to reach the milestone. Jimin is now the first K-pop artist with two solo songs in Spotify’s billion-stream club.
From topping polls to breaking records, Jimin continues to shine as one of K-pop’s brightest stars, captivating fans worldwide.
