Jessi has parted ways with her agency in the midst of her fan assault controversy.
On October 18, the rapper's label DOD Entertainment confirmed Jessi is no longer with the company just one month after signing an exclusive contract with them.
DOD Entertainment stated, "Once again, we apologize for the recent unfortunate incident that has caused concern among fans. After several discussions with Jessi about her future activities, we mutually agreed to terminate her exclusive contract as of October 18, 2024. Although her time with us was short, we are grateful for the time Jessi spent with us and will continue to sincerely support her future endeavors."
As previously reported, a fan, who was also a minor, had approached Jessi's group to request a photo but was assaulted by a man in Jessi's entourage in the early hours of September 29 in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam. CCTV footage showed Jessi's group trying to stop the assailant A, but Jessi left the scene shortly thereafter, raising suspicions that she ignored the fan assault by the member of her entourage. The rapper has claimed she is not friendly with the perpetrator, who is alleged to be a Chinese friend of a close associate of Jessi. Jessi has since apologized for the incident and attended police questioning, but netizens are still having a negative response about the way the rapper handled the incident.
