ILLIT will release their second mini-album, 'I'LL LIKE YOU', today (October 21st).
This comeback marks their first return since debuting seven months ago. ILLIT made their debut in March with their first mini-album 'SUPER REAL ME', which included their attention-grabbing debut single 'Magnetic'. The song featured addictive melodies, quirky and playful lyrics, and easy-to-follow choreography, creating a sensation.
Proving their impact, 'Magnetic' became the first K-pop group debut track to enter both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK's Official Singles Top 100. It also achieved well on domestic music charts, topping the daily and weekly charts on platforms like Melon, Bugs, and Genie.
Now, ILLIT is returning after seven months with their second mini-album. 'I'LL LIKE YOU' is about meeting someone you want to get closer to, feeling unsure, but ultimately trusting your own feelings and moving straight toward that person.
The title track, 'Cherish (My Love)', is a dance-pop song that expresses curiosity about the other person’s feelings but emphasizes the importance of the singer’s own emotions. The catchy hook, addictive beats, and the members' pure vocal tones stand out.
The excitement for ILLIT’s comeback has been proven by impressive numbers. According to album distributors Genie Music and Stone Music Entertainment on the 18th, pre-orders for 'I'LL LIKE YOU' surpassed 550,000 copies the day before, more than 2.6 times higher than the pre-order sales for their debut album 'SUPER REAL ME', which reached 211,851 copies.
Following their return after seven months, ILLIT plans to engage with fans through a variety of activities. Their first variety show appearance post-comeback will be on 'Weekly Idol'. According to OSEN on the 20th, ILLIT recently completed filming for the show, which will air in October.
'Weekly Idol' is a flagship variety program of MBC M, airing since July 2011. Known as the "entry guide" to variety shows for all idols, it is hugely popular among idol fans worldwide.
Fans are eagerly awaiting to see what kind of chemistry ILLIT will bring to 'Weekly Idol' this time, after showcasing their variety skills during their March debut appearance on the show.
