Prosecutors have requested a sentence of 3 years and 6 months in prison for trot singer Kim Ho Joong (33), who has been indicted and detained on charges of a DUI hit-and-run.
During the sentencing trial held on September 30th at the Seoul Central District Court under Judge Choi Min Hye, the prosecution argued, "The negligence is severe, and the defendant's organized obstruction of justice has caused public outrage," as they presented their case for the prison sentence.
Kim was put on trial for fleeing the scene after hitting a taxi on the opposite side of the road while driving under the influence on the night of May 9th at around 11:40 p.m. in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam, Seoul.
Although Kim admitted to drinking, the charges for DUI were excluded. The prosecution stated, "It is difficult to accurately determine the blood alcohol level based solely on reverse calculations."
