An unnamed man in his 40s trespassed into HYBE HQ and managed to stay for 3 days undetected.
According to the Yongsan Police Station on September 12, the man entered the HYBE building through an underground area on the afternoon of the 6th. Security footage shows that around 4PM KST that day, the man walked in through the front entrance and sat in a chair in the lobby for about an hour. He then used an elevator that only serviced the underground parking to go downstairs, bypassing security doors. The man then crossed a glass security door and wandered through the building between the 3rd and 18th floors and staying for 2 nights and 3 days.
On the afternoon of the 8th, a HYBE staff member began having suspicions about the man loitering on the 5th floor and reported him to the police, who arrested him around 6:30PM on the same day. The man is facing trespassing charges.
The police investigation revealed the man was unemployed and did not engage in theft or carry weapons during the incident. While he stayed at HYBE HQ, he used facilities, such as the cafeteria, used by HYBE trainees and staff.
He later told police he was an American investor who entered the building for a meeting with HYBE officials. However, the police have not confirmed his nationality.
A spokesperson from HYBE stated, "We confirmed the man illegally entered the building and reported it to the police. We are actively cooperating with the investigation to ensure severe penalties are imposed."
HYBE is home to groups like BTS, NewJeans, Tomorrow x Together, and LE SSERAFIM.
