Stray Kids' Felix issued an apology after mentioning a Japanese anime challenge on The National Liberation Day of Korea.
On August 15, a post titled "Idol who announced Japanese anime challenge just as Liberation Day began" went viral on online communities. According to the post, Felix mentioned an Japanese anime challenge on the fan communication platform Bubble on Liberation Day. While interacting with fans is generally seen as positive behavior for an artist, the timing was deemed inappropriate by many netizens.
Netizens commented, "Why post this on Liberation Day?" "It was thoughtless," "It was a lapse in judgement," and "Please just stay quiet."
August 15 marks the 79th anniversary of The National Liberation Day of Korea, which commemorates Korea's liberation from Japan and celebrate the establishment of the Korean government. With other celebrities like Kang Seung Yoon, Jun Hyosung, Sean, Song Hye Kyo, and Lee Young Ae observing Liberation Day in exemplary ways according to netizens, Felix' words are drawing criticism.
Felix' apology is below.
"Hello, this is Felix.
First and foremost, I want to apologize to all those who were disappointed by my thoughtless behavior, including my fans.
In the early hours of August 15th, while discussing a short-form challenge with fans on a personal communication community, I mentioned a Japanese song.
I sincerely apologize for my lack of consideration and thoughtlessness on this meaningful Liberation Day.
I deeply reflect on my insufficient historical awareness. I will study more, think carefully, and act more responsibly to ensure such mistakes are not repeated.
Once again, I am truly sorry."
