Yu Junwon's Japan fan meeting has ultimately been canceled.
On June 7, the organizers of Yu Junwon's Japan fan meeting announced the cancellation through their official website. Yu Junwon was originally scheduled to hold four fan meetings, two each at KT ZEPP Yokohama and Zepp Namba on July 5th and 7th, respectively.
However, controversy arose when the production company of MBC's 'Boy Fantasy - After School Excitement Season 2', Phunky Studio, confirmed that Yu Junwon was secretly preparing for a fan meeting in Japan and expressed their intention for legal action. As Yu Junwon's request for an injunction against Phunky Studio regarding his exclusive contract was dismissed, it was argued that holding a secret event would constitute a breach of contract.
At the time, Phunky Studio referred to the situation as "an act without any conscience towards the Fantasy Boys members" and even announced plans to submit complaints to the Korean Entertainment Management Association and the Korean Entertainment Producers Association.
According to the contract obtained by Phunky Studio, Yu Junwon is affiliated with Apple Monster Entertainment. Apple Monster has produced various broadcasts including Mnet's 'Queen's Puzzle' as well as concerts and fan meetings for several artists.
Previously, Yu Junwon had plans to debut as a member of the group Fantasy Boys after winning first place on the MBC audition program 'Boy Fantasy - After School Excitement Season 2'. However, conflicts arose due to issues such as profit distribution adjustments and unauthorized team departures. Although Yu Junwon filed for an injunction against Funky Studio regarding his exclusive contract, he was unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, the first trial date for the 30 billion KRW (21.8 million USD) damages lawsuit filed by Phunky Studio against Yu Junwon is scheduled for June 27.
