allkpop: It’s nice to chat again GSoul! Please give our readers a short intro to who you are.
GSoul: My name is GSoul. I’m a singer/songwriter and overall artist. I’ve been singing and performing since the age of 13. I’m originally from South Korea but attended high school and college in New York.
allkpop: Your newest single, “Window Pane (PLT)” has just released! Share with us the inspiration behind the creation of this track.
Gsoul: The record was in the treasure chest for 3 years. My manager Joseph Kelley held on to the song. It’s a timeless record that still resonates an R&B feel. I grew up listening to a lot of R&B music so this sound matches me. The song is about seeing the world from my perspective. So I love it. It really has a New York vibe.
allkpop: What drew you to the smooth R&B concept of this release?
GSoul:The composition had really interesting details built into it. It reminds me of the time I lived in New York.
allkpop: What do you hope listeners will take away or experience when they listen to “Window Pane (PLT)”?
GSoul: I just want them to enjoy the sound and vibe of the record. Most of my songs are so personal but this one is more of a feel good song.
allkpop: Now onto the title itself, can you share what the significance of the title is and how it might reflect your own personal experiences or emotions?
GSoul: The title is a play on the hook, it's all about perspective and inviting listeners to see the world from my eye for a moment
allkpop: How do you balance vulnerability and strength in your vocal delivery for this track?
GSoul: I had to play the role of a messenger to get this song done. I'm usually pretty a fast with my songs but this song was written by another writer so it took time to connect emotionally. Window Pane is not a sad song or happy song; its more of a chill vibe.
allkpop: How do you think "Window Pane (PLT)" represents your evolution as an artist?
GSoul: This is a major change for me. I went through a phase where I felt like I didn't want to write anymore because I wasn't sure if I had anything else to say. So releasing this was super vulnerable for me.
allkpop: Well, we're certainly excited for Window Pane! What’s next for GSoul?
GSoul: More creative freedom. I’m looking to release more diverse music with different sounds. Probably another tour and reconnecting with my fans and making friends with new ones.
