Nam Tae Hyun wrote a message to fans promising to return with music after his drug scandal.
This past January, Nam Tae Hyun and his ex-girlfriend were sentenced for illegal drug use, and he received a 10-month prison sentence suspended for 2 years, which means he won't serve time in jail unless he commits a crime within 2 years. He was also ordered 40 years of drug rehabilitation and given a fine of 550,000 won ($417.85 USD).
On March 13, Nam Tae Hyun left a long message to fans on Instagram, revealing his feelings on his drug controversy and more. He wrote:
"Hello, this is Nam Taehyun.
I have made a big mistake, but I am sincerely reflecting on and regretting every day. I want to apologize and thank you once again for your concern and curiosity.
After being discharged from the rehabilitation center, I got a space in the same building to continue to strengthen my effort to overcome my drug addiction. In this process, my heart and soul are slowly getting better. I plan to gradually improve my bad lifestyle and way of thinking here and try harder to blend in with the world.
And after a lot of consideration, I realized that what I ultimately have to do is ‘music’. While there are aspects that are intimidating and challenging, I think that the only way to repay those who wait and support me is with music that comforts and gives happiness, not controversies anymore.
I am preparing an album that contains all my stories, putting the most effort I can. Since I have to do everything from scratch, working part-time and raising production costs little by little, it may take some time. But when these songs come out, I will make sure they will satisfy you.
I will occasionally update you on the progress of my work.
And I will continue to reflect on myself, repent, and live with a heart full of apologies to those who have been hurt.
Sincerly, Taehyun"
I think you mean 40 hours of drug rehabilitation, not 40 years.
