On February 8, SM Entertainment issued a series of official statements regarding lawsuits filed to address infringements on the rights of their artists.
The agency released the statements for their artists including BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT, NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, aespa, RIIZE, NCT WISH, and more.
SM Entertainment stated, "We sincerely request your cooperation in this matter. Through vigilant monitoring of reports received from fans via 'KWANGYA 119,' we are actively pursuing legal actions, both civil and criminal, in collaboration with the law firm Shin & Kim LLC."
The label continued, "These actions are aimed at combating various crimes such as malicious defamation, invasion of privacy, sexual harassment, and the dissemination of false information targeting our artists. We are committed to responding firmly and decisively without any leniency or compromise to protect the interests of our affiliated artists. We kindly ask for your utmost attention to avoid any involvement in unpleasant incidents. We sincerely thank all fans who have taken the time to report and assure you that we will continue to make every effort to safeguard the rights of our affiliated artists in every possible way."
Meanwhile, BoA had been subject to malicious comments after her appearance on the popular drama 'Marry My Husband' as Oh Yu Ra.
