Actress Park Eun Bin is facing backlash for her recent remark about the controversies surrounding the filming of the drama 'Castaway Diva.'
On December 4, Park Eun Bin sat down for an interview marking the conclusion of the popular tvN drama. During the interview, the actress briefly touched upon the various controversies the drama was embroiled in regards to filming.
Park Eun Bin expressed, "It is truly regrettable. There are facts beyond facts and there are circumstances that are unknown to the public. But that can't be helped. Depending on one's persepective, there are situations that may seem unjust."
She continued, "No one intended to create a disturbance or an issue. We all put in our individual sincere efforts but there were unexpected incidents that made things difficult for people."
Back in November, the production team for 'Castaway Diva' faced controversy after leaving piles of stones and other props unattended at a beach in Jeju Island after filming. After filming the scene where Seo Mok Ha (played by Park Eun Bin) created an "SOS" signal with stones while living alone on a deserted island for 15 years, the stones were left in place with other props.
At the time, the residents of Jeju Island expressed dissatisfaction, stating, "I have often seen dramas filmed in Jeju, but this is the first time I witnessed such irresponsible neglect of cleaning up after filming. Complaints are often raised during drama filming in urban areas due to noise or traffic restrictions, but in this case, the issue seems more serious in terms of environmental damage."."
The 'Castaway Diva' team was also accused of filming without obtaining a filming permit to use public areas.
With the growing controversy, the production team issued a statement and apologized. The team stated, "We apologize sincerely for causing inconvenience to the citizens. There were shortcomings during filming. Although we explained the filming in advance to residents and relevant authorities, there were shortcomings in the process and recovery. We will restore the site as soon as possible."
There was also another controversy back in May when the drama was in the beginning stages of filming. A man in his 40s threw bricks at a filming location in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, injuring a female staff member. The man admitted to the crime during a police investigation, stating that he was annoyed by the light and noise during filming, affecting his sleep. This raised suspicions about the excessive noise pollution caused by the filming team.
Regarding this incident, the production team stated, "We will pay more attention to details at future filming locations."
In her recent interview, Park Eun Bin candidly shared her feelings of unfairness concerning the controversies surrounding her latest drama. It's widely acknowledged that Park Eun Bin was particularly meticulous about the filming locations, often going the extra mile to ensure cleanliness and orderliness on set. Given her dedication and attentiveness, she expressed disappointment and a sense of injustice regarding the negative attention the drama has received, highlighting the disparity between her efforts and the public perception.
However, she has received backlash for her latest remarks about the controversies. Netizens have pointed out, "The production team did cause trouble for the public, why justify it? She seems shortsighted," "What are the circumstances that are unknown to the public?" "This is something that she didn't need to say. It's disappointing," "I think this would have ended if she simply said sorry," and "What unknown circumstances would there be to cause trouble for the residents? Even if there were circumstances, why does the actress need to explain about this matter?" and "If there were really unknown circumstances that couldn't be helped, then just simply reveal what they were. If she says, 'Circumstances that the public don't know' it just sounds like she's saying, 'What do the public know about filming?'"
Who cares. I am still shocked someone threw bricks and hurt someone just because they were upset. There was a better way to handle that, then hurt someone. Jail time.
